• Q: What is CRR?
  • A: The CRR (Cal Red Raiders) are a competitive, year-round AAU basketball club for boys (3rd-9th grade).   It was founded in 2005 by coaches Jon Rotz and Matt Clifford. The club originally started with two teams and now fields 10-12 teams each season. Teams are designed to prepare boys to play competitive basketball through high school and beyond.  The CRR are made up of players from the greater Sacramento area.
  • Q: How many AAU seasons a year are there?
  • A: The CRR offer three AAU seasons during each calendar year.  The Spring I, Spring II  & Fall seasons consist of 5-6 tournaments each.
  • Q; How many teams & players are kept at each grade level?
  • A: There are one or two teams per grade level, depending on the season.  There is a minimum of eight players per team and a maximum of eleven. 
  • Q: How are teams divided up within each grade level?
  • A: If there are two teams per grade, both teams will practice together through the season.  Teams will be divided into a “Black” team and a “Red” team for each tournament.  The Black team is the more competitive of the two.  Rosters are flexible within the season and players can be moved up or down at the coaching staff’s discretion. 
  • Q: When are try-outs held each year?
  • A: Club-wide tryouts will take place in late January of each year for our Spring I season.  New players may be added for the Spring and Fall seasons, and we have smaller tryouts prior to those.  
  • Q: What if my son missed try-outs for this season?
  • A: Please contact us via email so that we can assist you and possibly add you onto a roster if there is an available spot.
  • Q: Where are practices held?
  • A:  All practices are in the Carmichael area at various facilities within 15 minutes of Jesuit High School.
  • Q: How often do teams practice?
  • A: All CRR teams practice twice per week for 90 minutes during the AAU season.  
  • Q: Do the CRR only have AAU teams?  
  • A:  No. The CRR offer a variety of other basketball services throughout the year.  Basketball camps, clinics, and small group training are just some of our services.  Please check www.calredraiders.zone throughout the year for program updates.
  • Q: Are there refunds for any payed club programs?
    A:  There are NO REFUNDS.  It is up the CRR directors to offer club credits depending on each situation.
